No more chasing slips and WhatsApp photos at VAT time. Clients who run their quotes, invoices and expenses on QuoteDirect invite you into the accountant portal. Pull any client's VAT-period pack, reports and receipts yourself, ask about anything that looks wrong right there, and see every client's next VAT201 deadline on one screen.
Create your free practice login Download a sample packElectricians, builders, installers, cleaners, landscapers, pool and pest-control companies — the people who quote and invoice for their work are great at what they do and terrible at paperwork. You know the routine: the VAT201 is due, half the invoices live in a Word document, the fuel slips are in the bakkie, and the bank statement has deposits nobody can explain. You bill a fixed fee and spend twice the hours chasing. QuoteDirect fixes it at the source — the paperwork is created properly the moment the work is quoted and invoiced — and the accountant portal means you never have to ask for it.
One login for your whole practice, across every client who uses QuoteDirect.
Download export packs and close periods · work out the VAT201 · run the financial reports · open invoice copies and expense receipts · ask questions and request slips · set the account and VAT codes · add your staff.
Create or change quotes, invoices or payments · see the client's jobs, stock or team · change any other setting. Read-only by design — and the client can withdraw access at any time.
Less chasing, cleaner records, the same fee.
Every business that invites you sits in one client list, for your whole team. No shared passwords, no seat on their plan.
Each client's next VAT201 due date — eFiling's last business day — sorted soonest first. Mark each return as filed, with SARS's payment reference, and it drops off the list. Plus a Monday email with the week ahead.
Questions sit on the transaction they're about and on your client's Today screen until answered. No more WhatsApp threads to dig through.
Receipts are photographed when they happen and bundled in the pack. The missing ones? Request them all in one click.
The worksheet lays out the boxes the return asks for, from the same records as the pack, and flags input VAT with no slip behind it.
Three reconciliation checks run before download — you see the workings, not just a promise.
Set each client's account and tax codes yourself, once; every pack after that arrives already coded.
One zip with each client's pack for their own last VAT period, in a folder each, with a note on whether each one balances.
Lock closed periods, and nothing dated in a period you've filed can be added, changed or deleted after the fact.
Clients upload statements and SARS letters straight to you, and you see at a glance which months are missing. Share filed returns and statements back the same way.
Your practice's period checklist on every client, ticked by your team — exporting and filing tick themselves. Private notes keep what you'd otherwise have to remember.
For clients who aren't registered yet, the portal tracks 12-month turnover against the R2.3 million threshold and warns you before they cross it.
The questions you used to send on WhatsApp now live next to the transaction, and the VAT201 is worked out from the same records you export.
This is the actual folder you unzip. Download the sample to open the files yourself.

Start with the clients who send you the worst records. It costs you nothing, there's nothing to install or learn, and you earn for as long as they stay.
Of every month each client pays, excluding VAT — for as long as they pay and your practice has access to their books. Paid monthly by EFT, no cap on clients.
Free trial for your clients — double our standard, no card needed. After that from R299/month, every feature included.
Any of them. The pack is plain CSV files plus an Excel reconciliation workbook, so it opens in Excel and can be mapped into the import tools of Sage, Pastel, Xero or whatever you run. Your client can also enter your account and tax codes in QuoteDirect so the files arrive already coded for your ledger.
Your client invites you from Settings → Accountant Access in QuoteDirect. If your practice already has a portal login, the business appears in your invitations; if not, the email takes you straight to creating your free login. You can also invite clients yourself from the portal's Invite Clients page: they sign up with a tick box that gives your practice access straight away. One login covers every client.
You can download export packs (one client at a time or every client in one zip) and close export periods, run the financial reports, work out the VAT201, open invoice copies and expense receipts, set the account and VAT codes the packs use, and ask the client questions. You can't create or change quotes, invoices or payments, or see the client's jobs, stock or team. Everything you download is recorded in the client's activity log, and they can withdraw access at any time.
Yes. Click "Ask about this" on any invoice or expense, ask something general, or request every missing slip for the period in one go. The question appears on your client's Today screen and in their notifications; they reply from QuoteDirect and can attach the slip, which is saved straight onto the expense. Their answer shows up on your dashboard and in the Questions list, and the whole conversation stays with the transaction.
No. The VAT201 worksheet lays out the figures the return asks for — standard and zero-rated supplies, output tax, input tax and the amount payable or refundable — built from the same records as the export pack, with the eFiling due date. You check it and file on eFiling as usual. It also flags input VAT claimed on expenses that have no slip.
Not if "Lock closed periods" is on. Once you download and close a period, invoices, credit notes, payments and expenses dated in it can't be added, changed or deleted — the books you filed from stay the books in QuoteDirect. Slips can still be attached. You or your client can switch the lock on under the accounting codes.
Nothing. The accountant portal is free for practices, including logins for your staff, and you never take up a seat on your client's plan. QuoteDirect is paid for by your client, from R299 a month. For every client who signs up through your practice, you earn 10% of what they pay us each month (excluding VAT), for as long as they pay and your practice has access to their books — and they get a 14-day free trial instead of the standard 7.
Every pack runs three checks before it is downloaded: the sales file adds up to the invoices issued, the VAT agrees with the VAT report in the app, and the debtors movement ties from opening to closing balance. The workings are in reconciliation.xlsx, and anything unusual is listed in a separate "worth a look" section.
Create your free practice login, then invite your clients straight from the portal — or ask them to add you under Settings → Accountant Access. Open the sample pack first if you'd like to judge for yourself.
